Traditional Chinese medicine considers that drug and food are of the same origin.  Besides the administration of systemic TCM therapy, patients with hepatophilic virus disease, during the course of treatment or after clinical cure are advised to take ¡§yin nourishing and kidney supplementing soup¡¨ at times, to let the body have enough kidney water to suppress heart, liver and lung fire.  The consititution of hepatophilic virus disease patients belongs to the different type that can not accept supplementation, so they can neither take hot and dry character soup nor soup too cold in character.  Soups and food that are too hot and dry, such as chicken coup, young pigeon, quail, francolin, mutton, acrid and hot dry food or those cooked by chafing dish or roast or barbecue methods.  These types of food may evoke the up flaring of asthenic fire.  The soups and food too cold in character, such as radix panacin quinquefolii (ªáºX°Ñ) and green and red turnips, may easily evoke the fire residing in heart, liver and lung.  In addition, the head of radix angelicae sinensis (·íÂkÀY), fructus ziziphi jujubae (¬õ´Ç), fructus lycii, cornu cervi pantotrichum (³À¯ñ), radix ginseng and deer tail should be avoided.  As to food like raw fish, salad, raw oyster and shellfish which are not cooked in high temperature (over 100 degree and for 3 minutes) should be taken very carefully.  Attention should be paid to their quality and the possibility of relapse of liver disease due to re-infection after eating.
