Snail and pork yin nourishing soup

Ingredients:

  • one large fresh snail or half pounds frozen snail head,
    pork 4 liang or 30 grams, poria (Fuling), semen euryales, rhizome dioscoreae and white peeled semen nelumbinis, each around 3 qian or 10 grams,
  • ginger one piece,small amount of salt.

 

Method of cooking:

  1. One fresh shelled snail, deprived of viscera and adherent dirty substances. Clean it with water.
  2. If frozen snail is used, clean after defrost. Discard the water.
  3. Cut the pork into pieces and discard the water.
  4. Put all materials into a boiling pot, add adequate amount of water. First, use quick fire, then change to moderate and slow fire for 2 to 3 hours.
  5. Seasoning well when eating.

 

Effect:

Snail is sweet in taste, salty and mildly cold in character; it nourishes yin, brightens the eye, promotes urination and generation of body fluid.
Ginger is acrid in taste, warm in character; it expels superficial and cold evils, warms stomache and eliminates toxin.
